New iPad or iPhone decision, ipadonly13

iPhone or iPad?

If you have both
I’m at one of those decision points which come around every few years. As I only use Apple devices & don’t have a laptop or a computer I have both iPad & iPhone & I rely heavily on both of them for everything especially work related. So when it’s time to buy a new one, which one should you choose first?

Why iPad
First
One reason to choose to get a new iPad first is it’s the first device I ever had. I do presentations & years ago I had built up in my mind a dream device to make presenting easier. It was a screen I could hold up & touch to show my presentation. When I saw Steve Jobs showing the new iPad, I saw the devices of my dreams.

Work
Soon after, I bought my first iPad. At the time I was using a laptop & over the next few months, I switched to iPad only. All my notes are on it, my photos, my communications, spreadsheets, documents & presentations. I quickly worked out how to use iPad for everything, even building our company website.

Present
Most importantly, I presented with my iPad. Using a variety of stands or connecting to projector or screen. Working on the iPad means you can create your presentation there as well as present it. So you could also switch to the supporting documents if you needed to show someone more details during a presentation. iPad is the greatest presentation tool, so iPad.

Why iPhone
Mobile
Why an iPhone? Shortly after the iPad, I got my first iPhone, it was a great complementary device. For example, you can use it as a remote control for your presentations. The benefit of an iPhone is its more mobile, slipping easily into your pocket even the plus size. Sometimes it’s awkward to carry an iPad.

Writing
I also use my iPhone a lot for writing & I’m doing a lot more writing. Every week i write thousands of words in articles & emails. Writing on the iPhone easier than on the iPad. You can use it to write everywhere. Even though i can touch type on my iPad, it’s easier on an iPhone because you don’t need something to rest on.

X
With Apple devices, timing is everything. You don’t want to buy just when a new device is about to come out. Right now the iPhone X is the latest & greatest with its full screen & amazing visual quality. The new iPad Pro is probably going to be updated again in a couple of months time. It’s great to have the latest device, so iPhone.

Consider
Cost
But hang on! There’s also some other considerations which are almost as important. The first is cost. The iPad being a bit older, there are some good deals & it’s quite a bit cheaper than the iPhone X. The devices ultimately cost me nothing because I use them to earn money, but it’s still cash flow negative at the beginning.

Family
There’s also a major family consideration. Normally the children get my old devices. There’s 3 of the, & because I have t bought a new one for a while & their older ones have all broken, they need upgrading. The 2 older ones don’t like iPads & the youngest has no device. Getting a new iPad would feed up the old one for her.

Broken
Then there’s the question of the state of my current devices. My iPhone 6 is very slow, struggling with the new software & battery. The screen has also started to go wrong. My iPad has been dropped & the off button is damaged, but it can still work speedily & the battery lasts longer.

Ipadonly?
It’s a tough decision, but despite the issue of higher cost & the hand me down challenge of keeping all children happy, I’m going to go with iPhone X & wait for the new iPad to come out on the middle of the year. The writing is a big swing factor, as is the camera because I need more professional photos & video. Decision made.
