iPhone investor trip, Ipadonly18

Never before seen
I just came back from a trip to one of our plantation projects with a group of potential investors from Europe. They all used iPhones, but were quite surprised how much I used mine. On the flight back, one of them said he’d never seen anyone use an iPhone like that. Here’s 3 of the simple things I did which surprised them.

Show the trip
Before we go
The first thing I like to do before every trip is to use my iPhone or iPad to show what’s going to happen before we leave. You can do this at the airport or on the flight. It’s a great way to create some excitement & to set a standard of how the trip will go. Your guests will see that you know what you’re doing.

Google earth
The tool to show the trip is Google Earth. You can use the app on either iPad or iPhone to manually show the journey you will take from departure to destination. Then you can zoom in to show the project. If you have electronic maps you can open these in Google Earth & the app will ‘fly’ you there & zoom in automatically.

Data
If your guests have specific questions about your industry, company, project, you can answer those on the trip with iPad & iPhone. Many people don’t realize Apple has their own mobile spreadsheet software. I make all my spreadsheets on my phone so they are there to show visitors assets, financials or industry data during the trip;

Check a bill
Large group
We had quite a large group with us on the trip. 3 cars full of visitors & our own staff. Over 2 days we had to not only transport everyone, but arrange the accommodation & meals. We had 3 large meals in restaurants. The last one was with 18 people. With the cars arriving at different times, the food ordering got out of hand.

Manual resto
The restaurant had quite good food, but it was expensive. We ended up with a bill of about $300, which is quite steep for the location we were in. Everything in the restaurant was manual. The bill was written out by hand. Our guests wanted to pay but the resto wouldn’t accept their cards, so I had to settle with cash.

Spreadsheet check
In order to make sure everything was correct & to give the restaurant a bit of a shock, I quickly made an electronic version of the bill as a spreadsheet on my iPhone. The restaurant hastily recalculated a few items & the spreadsheet ended up matching their bill. Shops & restaurants could iPhones or iPads to create their own bills.

Make a video
Little clips
We did a lot in a couple of days, but it’s amazing how easy it is to forget things. So when we have visitors, I always make little video clips as we go around. It’s so easy with an iPhone. You just pull it out of your pocket, swipe left & the camera appears. Quick 5 second film & close it down again:

iMovie
Then on the flight back I put all the clips into the iMovie app. You can just shove everything in, then edit it by first throwing out the clips which are less interesting & then shortening the others down to a couple of seconds. You should try to end with something around 2 minutes long which is a long enough & within attention span limits.

YouTube
People love to see themselves in a movie. I add some upbeat music from my Apple Music collection & then upload it to YouTube. Guests are often surprised to see how much they did in a short time, you & they can easily share it l plus you can show the next guests or prospective guests what a trip is like before they go.

iPad only
My iPhone or iPad is a true work horse for this kind of traveling. Of course I can also use it to communicate with home; it’s an electronic store for my tickets; on the flight there I wrote a 1,000 word article on it; I listen to music all the time while traveling; I photo & store bills. You can do all of these too.
