Calls to action! Sharpiepresents33
A must
When you are giving a presentation, which if you are following the 7 Steps To Giving A Great Presentation, of course will have a great point, it’s a must to get your audience to take action. Not every one will but to change the world, try to get as many people as possible to do something.. Here’s 3 simple ways how.
Permission.
Ask
One simple way to get people to take some action is to ask your audience for permission. You can do this throughout your presentation, starting from the very beginning. People like to be asked if it’s ok for you to do things with them, it makes them feel like they’re in charge & helps to build trust.
Smile
The best way to do this is with a smile on your face. Smiling is not always something which comes easy if you’re presenting. You are most probably going to be be nervous. When you are nervous, smiling is one of the first things that disappears. So you have to consciously make sure you smile when you ask your audience something.
Closed
When you ask your audience for permission, the best way is to make it as closed a question as possible. This means you want to ask permission for something that’s hard to say no to. Example, ask your audience for permission to present to them. If they’ve come to see your presentation, they’ll most likely nod agreement.
Hands up
Survey
The second way to get your audience to take action is to ask them more specific questions. The simplest way to do this is to ask for a show of hands like a survey. Once again ask very simple closed questions which you already know the answer to. Example: ‘...let’s have a show of hands, how many people ever had to give a presentation?’.
Question
With a smaller more intimate audience you can ask more specific questions. When I’m presenting to investors I always ask them if they own our shares. Specific questions will give you valuable information & help build a relationship with your audience. They could be amusing; these days I often ask at the end if my audience believes anything I said.
Persist
The key with questions is to make sure you get an answer. Keep smiling & stick your own hand up in a survey to get your audience to join in. Ask the question a few times if there’s little response at the beginning. With one to one questions you can rephrase the question or ask a different one, just make sure you get an answer.
Website
The third way to get action from your audience is to ask then to connect with you in some way. You could ask them to go to your website to look at something. For example put your presentation up on the web beforehand & show the link at the end so your audience can view it immediately afterwards rather than give them a handout.
Social
Hopefully you have personal & company social media. You can use them in your presentation to show something like a picture or video. Then at the end of your presentation show the username & ask your audience to follow you. Better still do a selfie wit the audience, post it & ask them to view it... ask for permission first.
Email
The holy grail of audience communication is to get a real lead. That means you need to get phone number or email or better both. You can do this by having a subscription to offer, like a weekly newsletter. Put the sign-up on the front of your website, ask your audience to go there & sign up to keep in touch.
Create
Getting your audience to take action combined with having a clear point, is going to help you towards achieving your goals. Your audience will feel more excited it they take some action. They will feel more involved & it will help to build a relationship with you. Be creative. These are just 3 ideas, there are lots more.
