How ‘7 Steps’ closed a $1.24m sale, Sharpiepresents36

Seal the deal
This week I made a $1.24m sale with help from my presentation system 7 Steps To Giving A Great Presentation. This was the culmination of about a month’s work which started with a pre Christmas presentation. Here you can read the story of how ‘7 Steps’ worked not only for the presentation itself but also to seal the deal.

Get out
Desk job
The first part is surprisingly about freedom. You might notice in 7 Steps there’s a lot about iPads & iPhones, which give you freedom. You are probably like me & have a desk job. I’m very lucky to have a beautiful 12F office with a great views out over Mega Kuningan in Jakarta. It’s a great spot to write & make calls from.

Outside
But have you noticed, you don’t meet many people in your office? At least not people you can sell to. You meet your colleagues yes, but if you want to meet clients, in most cases you have to get out of the office. There’s lots of competition out their for attention & you have to leave to get it.

Starbucks
I spend a lot of time (& money) in various Starbucks around Jakarta. One reason is because I love (& need) my 2 cups of coffee per day. But a more important reason is because I know I will meet people there. In some cases I know exactly which places to go in order to have a better chance of meeting specific people. Investors.

7 Steps
Always new
When I meet an investor by calculated chance, the 7 Steps means I’m ready to sell to them. One of the golden rules in 7 Steps is to always make a new presentation for every occasion. I never present the same presentation twice. This is not only for the audience at that time, it means you always have something new to show anyone you meet.

Quick
7 Steps To Giving A Great Presentation is also designed to help you give a quick presentation. My favorite presentation type is the 3x3. With 11 ‘tweets’ this is about 700 words long which can be done in about 7-10 minutes. That’s perfect to get attention & update someone you meet by (calculated) chance in Starbucks or anywhere.

iPhone
7 Steps also helps if you follow it to the letter & therefore make your presentations on iPad or iPhone. My beloved & super fast iPhone X of course goes with me everywhere, so it’s right where I need it if I meet someone & want to give the presentation to them. The brilliant screen perfectly shows off the slides. iPad is even better. Get my iPad only weekly emails here

Follow up
Thanks
Meeting someone who is a potential client & then giving them your latest presentation in 7-10 minutes in Starbucks on your iPhone is of course not enough to seal the deal. Hardly anyone ever does a $1.24m sale on the first meeting. Here’s how 7 Steps helps with follow up. But first, immediately after the meeting send a simple ‘thanks & great to see you’ message.

Send presentation
Thenn, because my presentation is only about 10-15 sliders & I have it on my device that I used to present it on during the (chance) meeting.. you can immediately share the presentation with the person you met while you’re still with them. Or you can send it to them later after the thank you as a second follow up.

Data file
Next, in the 7 Steps you are also taught about how to turn data Into great, simple, effective charts. If you follow 7 Steps to the letter, you make the charts in simple spreadsheets using Apple Numbers on your iPhone or iPad. Then you will have a simple & convincing data file which you can share with the person you met to convinces then & close the deal.

Sale
In this particular case the chronology was a chance meeting with an investor in Starbucks before Christmas, live presentation, follow up then another pre arranged meeting, more data sharing & then finally last week the conclusion of the sale with a $1.24m investment. This is how 7 Steps helps me & hopefully it can help you too.

Be a great presenter!
